A woman has been taken to hospital following a house fire last night.
Firefighters from Hanley were called to the blaze at a house in Abbey Road, Abbey Hulton, at around 8.40pm.
The fire was caused by food left unattended in the microwave and the fire service were alerted after neighbours smelt smoke and heard smoke alarms.
Two fire engines attended the scene and firefighters removed the microwave from the property before ventilating the house.
